Neither is better in itself; it depends on the space the cabinet leaves for the unit. Horizontal units are low and wide for a horizontal space, vertical units narrow and tall for a vertical one, and where nothing is free inside, the wall-mounted unit sits in the cabinet wall. Outlines are in the specification table; at the same capacity, horizontal and vertical units are rated at the same 45 °C ambient and 18 °C leaving water.

Key Metrics
Product Features
Three mounting forms
Horizontal units suit a low, wide space in the cabinet and vertical units a tall, narrow one; where nothing can be freed inside, the wall-mounted unit sits in the cabinet wall.

3–13 kW in steps
AC units come in 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8 kW, DC units in 5 and 13 kW, so the step can be matched closely to the cabinet's heat load.
Dual-loop unit
The 5+3 kW dual-loop unit feeds the battery and the PCS at the same time, so a liquid-cooled PCS needs no cooling equipment of its own.
DC-powered units
Fed from 450–750 V or 400–750 V DC, they suit storage systems that take auxiliary power from the battery DC bus rather than a separate AC supply.
Heating built in
Every liquid-cooling unit carries a heater and runs down to -30 °C ambient, the 13 kW DC unit to -40 °C, so in winter the same unit warms the battery.
Cabinet integration
Cut-out size, fixing, in-cabinet pipe connections and the BMS point list are agreed at the cabinet design stage; the unit ships on its own or integrated with a storage enclosure.
Product Details

Three electrical sockets mid-panel; water connections low at each end (right end shown)
The 3, 4, 5 and 6 kW models share a 900 × 240 × 700 mm body (W × H × D) on a single-phase 230 V supply; the 8 kW model grows to 1050 × 280 × 800 mm on single-phase 220 V. The whole series uses R32. Capacity is rated at 45 °C ambient and 18 °C leaving water, with a COP of 2.0 for 3–5 kW and 1.9 for 6 and 8 kW. Coolant flow is 30 L/min on the 3 kW model and 50 L/min on the others; rated heating is 2 kW throughout. The middle of the front panel carries three sockets — host communication, service port and AC power — while the water connections sit low at both ends of the panel, with handles and fixing lugs on either side.

Vertical units are narrow and tall. The 3 kW and 5 kW models use a 275 × 800 × 1090 mm body with R410A and weigh about 80 kg; the 8 kW model and an R32 version of the 5 kW share a 266 × 1035 × 1145 mm body, the 8 kW weighing about 112 kg. All four run on single-phase AC, are rated at 45 °C ambient and 18 °C leaving water with a COP of 2.0, and circulate 50 L/min. A low-noise 5 kW vertical unit on 380 V AC uses the same body as the 3 kW and 5 kW models; it delivers 5 kW at 35 °C ambient and 18 °C leaving water and stays within 65 dB(A) at 35 °C ambient.
The wall-mounted unit comes in a single 5 kW size with an outline of 800 × 1150 × 275 mm (W × H × D). It is set into the cabinet wall, for cabinet designs that cannot spare a horizontal or vertical mounting space inside. Rated cooling is 5 kW (45 °C ambient, 18 °C leaving water), heating 2 kW, COP 2.0, coolant flow 50 L/min, refrigerant R410A, weight about 70 kg. A large intake grille fills the upper front, with a round fan guard at the lower right.
Cabinets with a liquid-cooled PCS take the 5+3 kW dual-loop unit. The battery side supplies 18 °C water at 45 °C ambient, rated 5 kW at 50 L/min @ 90 kPa; the PCS side supplies 45 °C water, rated 3 kW at 20 L/min @ 90 kPa. Rated heating for the unit is 2 kW and the COP 2.2, with R410A. It mounts horizontally in a 1080 × 300 × 790 mm outline and weighs about 110 kg. The 40+30 kW rooftop dual-loop unit for containers applies the same approach at higher capacity.
The direct-refrigerant unit works without coolant: refrigerant is sent straight to the direct-cooling plates in the battery packs and evaporates there, so the cabinet holds no glycol circuit and no pump. The unit uses R134a and is rated at 5 kW (rating conditions confirmed per project) with a COP above 2.0; it mounts horizontally in a 700 × 350 × 900 mm outline, weighs about 70 kg and is built to corrosion class C3. Two copper refrigerant connections sit on the right of the front panel. The battery supplier and ETENZ confirm the match between cooling plates and refrigerant piping together during selection.
The 5 kW DC unit shares the body of the 5 kW horizontal AC unit (900 × 240 × 700 mm) and is powered from 450–750 V DC; it is rated at 5 kW cooling and 2 kW heating, uses R410A and weighs about 70 kg. The 13 kW DC unit measures 642 × 292 × 700 mm, runs from 400–750 V DC and carries three large-diameter fans on its side. It is rated at 13 kW cooling (45 °C ambient, 18 °C leaving water) and 24 kW heating; its electrical section is rated IPX7, it operates in ambient temperatures from -40 to 60 °C, uses R134a and weighs about 95 kg. Both DC units circulate 50 L/min with a COP of 2.0.

Product FAQs
Yes — a liquid-cooling unit is the cooling source: it contains the refrigeration circuit, condenser fans, pump and heater, and delivers coolant at the set temperature from its outlet. The coolant and the cold plates inside the battery packs are not part of the unit; in-cabinet distribution piping, hoses and quick couplings can be supplied to project scope. The direct-refrigerant unit has no coolant loop — refrigerant goes straight to the cooling plates in the packs.
The refill arrangement is confirmed for the selected model. If your project needs automatic refill, state it in the enquiry and it is checked during selection.
Start with the cabinet's heat load to pick the capacity step, and take the 5+3 kW dual-loop unit if the PCS is liquid-cooled. Then choose horizontal, vertical or wall-mounted by the space in the cabinet, and AC or DC by the auxiliary supply. Ratings in this range are at 45 °C ambient; where the site's maximum temperature is above 45 °C, the selection is rechecked at actual conditions.
Noise limits for each model are in the specification table. For noise-sensitive sites there is a low-noise 5 kW vertical unit on 380 V AC that stays within 65 dB(A) at 35 °C ambient. In the layout, keep the unit's air intake and discharge away from the side where people spend time.
The voltage ranges of both DC units are in the specification table. During selection, check that the battery system's DC voltage range lies within the range the unit accepts.
Yes. Liquid-cooling units carry electric heating; heating capacity and the lowest ambient temperature are in the specification table. Low-temperature operation of the direct-refrigerant unit is confirmed during selection.
The whole range communicates over RS485 with CAN reserved; the point list and control logic are agreed per project.
It can be assessed as the cooling source: the unit delivers coolant at a set temperature, so equipment cooled by cold plates can be connected. Capacity is rated at 45 °C ambient and 18 °C leaving water; selection follows the supply temperature and heat load the equipment requires.
The cabinet's heat load and whether the PCS is liquid-cooled; the space and dimensions available for the unit; the auxiliary supply (single-phase AC, or the DC voltage range); the site's maximum and minimum temperatures; the communication protocol; the corrosion class; quantity; and whether the unit is supplied on its own or integrated with the cabinet.
