The compressed air foam system is supplied by the customer or a manufacturer the customer nominates, and its design, performance and acceptance rest with that supplier. ETENZ supplies the enclosure together with in-cabin ventilation, lighting and auxiliary power distribution, and can also set the unit in place and connect its in-cabin interfaces at the factory.

CAFS Enclosure for Compressed Air Foam Systems
For CAFS manufacturers and integrators on substation projects: a factory-built equipment enclosure delivered in one piece, bare shell to OEM/ODM.

Product Features
Four enclosure types
Large (11.5–12.5 m long), medium (8.3–8.5 m) and small (5.5 m) main-equipment enclosures, plus a fire-fighting robot enclosure, chosen by unit size and the space on site.

Drawing-based layout
Door openings, equipment supports and penetrations are positioned from the unit layout drawing, so the unit drops into prepared positions with less cutting and rework on site.
Compressor ducting
Hot air from the compressor leaves through a dedicated duct straight to the outside instead of building up inside the enclosure.
Heavy-duty base
Heavy components of the unit sit directly on support points in the structural-steel base frame, located to suit the unit.
Outdoor durability
50 mm rock-wool insulation, IP54/55 protection and C3–C5 anti-corrosion coating, built to a 25-year design life.
One-piece transport
Enclosure and fit-out are completed in the factory and shipped as one cabin, with lifting points designed into the structure and a dedicated lifting frame available.

Schematic plan and side elevation: service doors sit beside the equipment they serve, with dimension lines for length, width and height.
Large enclosures run 11.5–12.5 m long and medium ones 8.3–8.5 m, 3.0–3.7 m wide and 3.5–3.8 m high, housing the main equipment of the foam system. The interior is zoned around the system's components, with service doors placed beside the compressor and other parts that need routine maintenance; door count, size and swing follow the system layout drawing. Length, width and clear height are all derived from the equipment envelope and service clearances.

5500 × 3000 × 2800 mm overall, for compact CAFS units where a small footprint is needed. Double doors at the end let the unit move in and out in one piece and open it up for service; the side has a further service door and ventilation louvers, and openings are positioned to the unit's connections.
The compressor has its own internal duct, and its hot air leaves through an external duct on the enclosure wall. The air intake and the duct outlet both carry motorized louvers that open with the system and close when it stops, reducing the wind-blown sand, rain and snow that gets inside. Duct routing and louver size and number follow the compressor model and layout; the rest of the enclosure is ventilated or air-conditioned to its heat load.
The base frame is a welded structural-steel assembly with support points set to the weight and footprint of each piece of equipment, and the floor is typically checker plate. For cold sites the base can take a polyurethane insulation layer and a 1.5 mm galvanized bottom plate to limit floor condensation. When the equipment layout changes, extra support points can be added on site and the coating touched up.
Before shipment the enclosure is checked against the customer's system drawings and 3D model for structural orientation, both end walls, door openings and penetrations, then against its overall dimensions. Locks, seals and coating are inspected before dispatch, and the inspection record ships with the enclosure.

Product FAQs
Main-equipment enclosures, which house the compressed air foam unit, come in large, medium and small sizes to suit the system. There is also a fire-fighting robot enclosure, which stores the station's fire-fighting robot and is usually supplied alongside the main-equipment enclosure. Typical sizes for each type are in the specification table; final sizes follow the system layout drawing.
Yes, and that is the most common arrangement: the shell, doors, insulation, ducting and penetrations are built to the system drawings and delivered to the system manufacturer's factory, where the unit is installed before the complete cabin goes to site.
It depends on the unit itself: its components, envelope and service clearances set the enclosure length and zoning, and site area, access roads and crane conditions also play a part. Typical sizes for each are in the specification table; the final size follows the system layout drawing.
The equipment list, dimensions, weights and layout drawing of the unit; required positions for doors, ventilation, piping and cable entries; site temperature, corrosion, wind and snow conditions; transport and lifting conditions; and colour and nameplate requirements.
All types are wider than a standard shipping container and travel as one-piece oversize loads. Transport mode and route are set by the enclosure size, weight and destination; lifting points are designed into the structure and a lifting frame can be supplied.
Lead time depends on enclosure size, quantity and scope of fit-out, and runs from approval of the system drawings according to the production schedule.
