Product Features

Low-power cooling

100 kW of heat rejection for 8 kW of rated power input, so cooling a high-temperature loop takes little electricity.

Product Details

The two models are divided by how the coolant temperature relates to the ambient air. At 45 °C ambient the 100 kW model is rated at 58 °C outlet, 13 °C above the air, so its heat passes through the heat exchanger and fans straight to the atmosphere. The 40 kW model supplies 20 °C coolant, 25 °C below the air, which takes compressor cooling and 17 kW of rated power input. Which one fits depends on the maximum coolant inlet temperature set by the PCS manufacturer. Where the 100 kW model runs at an outlet temperature below 58 °C, its cooling capacity is calculated for the project's conditions.

The outline is 1200 × 920 × 1300 mm and the weight about 265 kg, with one large fan on top and a guarded heat exchanger on the side. Coolant temperature is controllable from 10 to 30 °C, rated pressure is 2.5 bar and noise no more than 75 dB(A), on a three-phase 400 V, 50 Hz supply. It is the smaller of the two and takes about 40% of the 100 kW model's roof area.

The 100 kW model is built as a flat frame, 2000 × 620 × 1800 mm and about 400 kg, with six fans in two rows on top and the pump and pipework in the lower frame. Coolant temperature is controllable from 10 to 60 °C, rated pressure is 2.5 bar and noise no more than 85 dB(A). At -30 °C ambient its rated heating capacity is 7 kW (10 °C outlet).

The coolant is a 50% ethylene glycol solution, and supply flow is selected against the flow rate and pressure drop of the PCS cooling loop. The unit communicates over RS485, with CAN reserved, and joins PCS or EMS monitoring on a point list agreed per project. When ETENZ integrates it with the PCS enclosure, the roof mounting beams, the penetrations and the coolant piping from the roof down to the converter cabinets are drawn together, and the three-phase 400 V supply is taken from the enclosure's auxiliary distribution.

Product FAQs

A battery unit has to bring the coolant below ambient, which takes compressor cooling. PCS power devices accept much warmer coolant, so the 100 kW model is rated at an outlet temperature above ambient and rejects its heat straight to the air through the heat exchanger, at far lower rated power input. Where batteries and PCS share one liquid-cooled enclosure and a single unit is preferred, look at the dual-loop rooftop unit.

It comes down to the coolant inlet temperature the PCS manufacturer specifies: below ambient calls for the 40 kW model; a higher permitted inlet temperature suits the 100 kW model. When the 100 kW model runs below its rated outlet temperature, its cooling capacity is calculated for the project's conditions.

Yes. The coolant is an ethylene glycol solution, and the 100 kW model has a low-temperature heating function that warms the cooling loop in winter.

It is selected against the flow and pressure drop of the PCS cooling loop and stated per project with the quotation.

Both models are designed for the roof of a PCS or BESS enclosure. The roof mounting beams are sized to the unit's weight and fixing holes, and the penetrations with their waterproof sealing are drawn at the same time.

The unit communicates over RS485 with CAN reserved; the point list for the PCS or EMS is agreed per project.

Any liquid-cooled power electronics loop can be assessed, with the selection based on the coolant temperature, heat load and flow the equipment requires.

The heat load of the PCS power devices, the required coolant inlet temperature and flow, the site's maximum and minimum temperatures and altitude, the supply system, communication protocol and quantity, and whether the unit is supplied standalone or integrated with the PCS enclosure.
