On opposite sides of the inverter. The combiner box is on the DC side, installed outdoors in the array field, gathering several photovoltaic arrays into one DC output to the inverter, at IP65 in a hot-dip galvanised steel enclosure; the grid-connection cubicle is on the AC side, installed in the distribution room, taking the inverter output through a breaker and metering transformers to the point of connection, at IP30 in a combined-pattern floor-standing line-up. A plant needs both, and the quantities follow the array zoning and the number of inverters.

Photovoltaic Distribution and Combiner Equipment
For photovoltaic plant electrical designers, main contractors and grid-connection contractors: ETENZ equips both sides of the inverter — the IP65 combiner box on the DC side and the GGD-GF grid-connection cubicle on the AC side — supplied position by position or as equipment inside a prefabricated inverter step-up module.

DC side and AC side
The combiner box sits on the inverter DC side and gathers several photovoltaic arrays into one output; the grid-connection cubicle sits on the AC side and takes the inverter output to the point of connection. ETENZ equips both sides to one set of drawings, so the interface between array field and distribution room is aligned once.

Both poles protected
The combiner box takes PV-rated fuses on both positive and negative poles on dedicated matched bases, a PV-rated circuit breaker on the DC output, and a PV-rated surge arrester on the output busbar — positive-to-earth, negative-to-earth and positive-to-negative all have surge protection.
Per-string current
A modular monitoring unit reads the current of every string together with output voltage, box temperature, surge arrester status and breaker status; measurement uses Hall sensors with the measuring circuit fully isolated from the power circuit, and an OLED display shows current, voltage, power, temperature and the device address on the spot.
IP65 galvanised
The combiner box enclosure is hot-dip galvanised steel plate at IP65, waterproof, dustproof, rustproof and salt-spray resistant for outdoor installation; the monitoring unit is self-powered from a wide DC range with a potted supply module carrying reverse-polarity, overcurrent and overvoltage protection.
Tinned busbars
Every busbar connection surface in the grid-connection cubicle is tinned for reliable contact and the phases are marked yellow, green, red and blue; the enclosure is 2 mm electrolytic steel plate through forming, pickling, drying, powder coating and baking, on a U-channel steel base that stands the line-up steadily over a cable trench.
Product Details

Modules of the same rating are connected in series into arrays according to the inverter DC input voltage range, several arrays are brought into the combiner box, and the output passes the pole fuses, the DC surge arrester and the output breaker on its way to the inverter; on the AC side the grid-connection cubicle takes the breaker and the metering transformers to the point of connection. The inverter itself is outside the supply scope of this page and appears in the chain only to place the other two.

Per-string current, output voltage and box temperature, surge arrester status and breaker status are brought out over the communication interface, and beyond that interface lie plant monitoring and the operations platform. The device address is set on the monitoring unit itself with no auxiliary equipment; a string whose current drops shows up on the monitoring system as that string, rather than as a monthly generation figure that does not add up.
A combined-pattern distribution cubicle with closing plates all round, its frame built from punched beams and posts so brackets mount freely; the upper section is an enclosed control chamber with louvred vents on both sides and a left-hinged door for maintenance access. Closing is selectable between manual, stop and automatic, and on manual the guarded illuminated pushbutton can only be operated while the synchronism indicator is lit.
Supply Scope and Delivery Boundary
All three apply to every order: what is supplied, how far secondary work goes at the works, and which inspection records and documents ship with the cubicles.
Single Cubicle or Complete Lineup Supply
Cubicles are supplied singly or as a complete lineup against the order schedule. Enclosure, main circuit and internal connections are assembled at the works and shipped as complete cubicles; where transport limits apply, the lineup is split and the joining interface is set beforehand. Where the cubicles are to arrive inside a prefabricated cabin, the E-House line takes on the enclosure, internal arrangement and cubicle fixing, and the switchgear is delivered as equipment housed within it.

Photovoltaic distribution and combiner equipment selection
The two pieces of equipment sit on opposite sides of the inverter, one on the DC side and one on the AC side, and their ratings do not belong to the same system; each is therefore listed by its position, environment and device configuration. DC-side string count and voltage and current figures follow the modules and the inverter and are marked project-confirmed.

Product FAQs
By project confirmation. The module type and the number in series set the array open-circuit voltage and operating current, and the inverter DC input voltage range sets how many modules one string can carry; only once both are fixed can the combiner box input ways, the fuse rating per way, and the DC breaker and surge arrester ratings be settled. Send the module datasheet, the inverter DC-side parameters and the array zoning drawing and a configuration can be proposed.
The DC side of a photovoltaic array has no natural current zero, and the modules cannot be stopped from generating while the sun is on them, so fault current may return to the array through either pole. The combiner box therefore takes PV-rated fuses on both positive and negative poles on dedicated matched bases, a separate PV-rated circuit breaker on the DC output, and a surge arrester on the output busbar covering positive-to-earth, negative-to-earth and positive-to-negative.
Yes. The monitoring unit reads per-string current, output voltage, box temperature, surge arrester status and breaker status and sends them over the communication interface; the device address and device number are set on the equipment itself and the OLED display shows current, voltage, power and temperature on the spot. The protocol, signal list and polling interval are aligned with the plant monitoring system during the technical agreement.
The combiner box enclosure is hot-dip galvanised steel plate at IP65, and the stated performance covers waterproof, dustproof, rustproof and salt-spray resistant duty for outdoor installation. Please state the corrosion category, irradiation and temperature conditions of the specific site when enquiring, so the enclosure surface treatment and the self-powered range of the monitoring unit can be confirmed.
Not within the scope of this page. What this page supplies is the distribution equipment on either side of the inverter — the combiner box on the DC side and the grid-connection cubicle on the AC side; the inverter is procured separately by the project according to capacity and grid-connection requirements. It is drawn into the chain to show where these two pieces of equipment sit and what they interface with.
Yes. The grid-connection cubicle is supplied as equipment, while the enclosure, panel arrangement, auxiliary systems and interface integration needed by a photovoltaic inverter step-up station or a renewable grid-connection prefabricated substation come from the prefabricated power module line, with the cubicle delivered as equipment inside the module. Combiner boxes in the array field are installed position by position and ship with the equipment.
Four things at minimum: the installed capacity and array zoning; the module type and the number in series; the inverter DC input range and AC output parameters; and the voltage level and metering requirement at the point of connection. To quote to contract level, add the combiner box mounting positions and cable entry arrangement, the communication protocol of the monitoring system, the corrosion and temperature conditions on site, and the destination market standards and document list.
